A lot of new clients want to know: “How much does it cost to hire a criminal defence lawyer?” The answer, as with so much in law, is “it depends.” The total cost for a particular case can range from hundreds of dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, and will depend on a variety of factors, such as complexity of the case, the seriousness of the charges, the urgency of the situation, the amount of time required, and the results obtained.
On many files, we are able to quote a flat rate fee. We can almost always offer a free brief, initial consultation, either in-person or on the telephone, and we will discuss fees with you in detail before you proceed. It should also be mentioned that fees for the same sort of work can vary significantly between lawyers or law firms, so it can be a good idea to obtain several estimates.
Our firm does accept some legal aid appointments.
